The official recognition of the founding of the Mayacamas Community’s Fire Safe Council was held on October 30 at the Cal Fire Glen Ellen Fire Station, Sonoma County.
The founding of new Fire Safe Councils in California is a collaborative effort of the California Fire Safe Council and State Farm® Insurance.
CFSC’s Executive Director Stephen Gort coordinated with Mayacamas FSC co-chairs Lisa Wagner and Kristen Drummond to complete the community assessment program prior to completing the criteria to become a Fire Safe Council. The assessment was conducted by Carol Rice, Defensible Space Consultant.
“We are proud to welcome Mayacamas into the FSC group of more than 150 in California,” noted Gort. “Thank you to State Farm for its sponsorship and we look forward to working on other FSC foundings in the future.”
State Farm agents Katherine Wong and Kristine Tickner were present and spoke to the Mayacamas crowd gathered at the event. Also speaking were Cal Fire Battalion Chief Kirk Van Wormer and Mayacamas Fire Chief Michael Jablownosk.
Congratulations Mayacamas.
